Abstract

A chamber dryer for small food markets, recorded with the student and supervisor who built it.

Description

The dryer uses a timber frame, a polycarbonate cover, and a small fan. Traders in Lagos tested it on pepper and maize. The record keeps the drawings, the measurements, and the people who did the work.

The drying curve would transfer well to a dataset. I can help label the next trial.

We have a similar humidity problem in Kumasi. Could we compare fan sizes?

Which sheet thickness did you settle on for the cover?

    • Dr. Ifeoma Bello answered

We used 6 mm polycarbonate. Thinner sheet sagged in the afternoon sun.
